At Cy-Hope, we are committed to fighting food insecurity in our community by providing reliable access to nutritious food for children and families in need. Through partnerships and dedicated programs, we offer weekend food support for students and mobile food distributions open to the public. Whether it's supplementing meals for students, offering flexible food pick-up options, or distributing pantry staples and fresh items, our goal is to ensure no one in our community goes hungry.
Backpack Buddies
In partnership with the Houston Food Bank, Backpack Buddies helps ensure students in Cy-Fair and Waller ISD have access to food over the weekend. Each week, eligible students take home a discreet backpack filled with a variety of shelf-stable items—such as canned goods, juice or shelf-stable dairy, snacks, and other ingredients—enough to help feed the whole family until school meals resume.
To qualify, schools must be in a zip code where at least 13% of families are food insecure. We coordinate through school counselors, who identify students most in need of the program. If you’re a parent interested in Backpack Buddies, please reach out to your school counselor to see if your school participates.
Jersey Village Food Locker
In partnership with the Houston Food Bank, our Jersey Village Food Locker provides fresh and frozen foods to families in need at Jersey Village High School. Designed to be both convenient and dignified, the Food Locker allows families to custom order from a variety of available items—fruits, vegetables, proteins, pantry staples, and more—and pick them up at a discreet location on campus at a time that works for them.
We collaborate with Community Youth Specialists to identify families who would benefit most, ensuring support reaches those facing food insecurity. By offering choice, flexibility, and privacy, the Jersey Village Food Locker helps meet basic needs while honoring the dignity of every family we serve.
Mobile Food Distributions
Our Mobile Food Distributions bring essential groceries directly to the community through a simple, drive-thru experience—participants never even need to leave their car. Depending on availability, distributions may include pantry staples, shelf-stable foods such as canned goods and pre-packaged meals, and, when possible, fresh items.
These events are open to everyone, with no income or residency requirements. While waiting in line, participants simply complete a quick form on their phone to receive food—no photo ID needed. Mobile distributions are typically hosted once a month, providing a fast, accessible, and dignified way for families to take home nutritious ingredients without added barriers.
